Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) | Sri Lanka

Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) was established in 1996 as the eleventh National University in Sri Lanka with four faculties. It is located in Mihintale city which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. In its short history RUSL grew rapidly in many spheres and at present, it comprises six faculties including agriculture, applied sciences, management, medicine and allied sciences, social sciences and humanities, and technology.  There are over 1,900 students at the university, including undergraduates, postgraduates and non-graduates (certificates and diploma). The RUSL offers around 30 different undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in Sinhala and in English languages. Building strong theoretical and practical capabilities, the university significantly contributes to the development of the country’s human resource with necessary requisites to face the challenges presented by the current labour market, both at national and international. With a view to incorporate new knowledge and skill demands created by the ever-changing job market, the university committed to undertake regular revisions to its academic curricular and train academia aiming to transfer this new knowledge and skills to its graduates and undergraduates. University also has a passion to explore emerging global concepts. For example, RUSL has directed some of its resources to explore the science behind long existed tank cascade systems with a view to learn some lessons for ensuring the sustainability of current agro-ecological systems.
